Cyclone Michaung: Buildings Inundated, People Wade Through Deep Waters In Chennai. WATCH

Chennai is witnessing heavy waterlogging in several areas after rain, as an effect of cyclone Michaung, pounded the city and adjoining districts.

Rain has stopped in Chennai but the trouble for residents has not as severely inundated areas continue to create hindrances in the daily life of people in the town. Cyclone Michaung wreaked havoc across the Tamil Nadu capital city and nearby districts by flooding many areas and disrupting normal life.

Visuals posted by news agency ANI show buildings near Chembarambakkam in Chennai inundated due to heavy rainfall.

Cattle were also seen wading through deep waters as massive waterlogging continues to remain in Chennai. In Pammal, a flood-like situation could be seen with people walking through chest-deep waters.

Cyclone Michaung is all set to make landfall near Bapatla in Andhra Pradesh on Tuesday and the India Met Department has warned of light to heavy rains in five states -- Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha and Telangana.

Meanwhile, an IMD bulletin forecast light to moderate rainfall in most places and isolated heavy rainfall on Tuesday morning, decreasing thereafter in Chennai.

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin on Tuesday inspected the cyclone-ravaged areas and interacted with people. He also distributed food to the cyclone-affected people. Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) chairman B Karunakar Reddy inspected the rain-hit areas of Poolavanigunta and Gollavanikunta in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh following heavy rainfall in the region.
