IMD Predicts Moderate Rainfall In Parts Of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry For Next Four Days
Chennai Rain Forecast: The MET Dept said that rainfall coupled with thunderstorms is likely to continue in Chennai for the next 48 hours.
Chennai: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Wednesday predicted rainfall in parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for the next four days. The rain that started on Sunday was coupled with thunderstorms and it continued with intervals even on Wednesday.
In a press note, IMD said, "Mild to moderate rainfall is likely to be experienced in parts of Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for the next four days till June 26."
"The rainfall is also to be coupled with thunderstorms on Monday and Tuesday," it said.
On the prediction for Chennai, MET Department said, "For the next 48 hours, the skies will likely be partly cloudy and mild to moderate rainfall coupled with thunderstorms will also likely be experienced. The maximum temperature will be 35 °C while the minimum temperature will be 27 °C."

The MET Department has also warned fishermen against venturing into the Arabic sea due to the winds and rough weather for the four days.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the rain left the Chembarambakkam reservoir at full capacity and as a result, PWD officials have also started to release water from the reservoir. Till last week, the reservoir was holding 3,276 million cubic feet (mcft) of water as against the full capacity of 3,645 mcft.

Meanwhile, Chennai recorded the highest amount of single-day rainfall for June this decade on Sunday. Nungambakkam received 8 cm of rainfall against the expected rainfall of 5.6 cm in June. Earlier, the city recorded an overnight heavy rainfall of 5.3 cm on June 8, 2016.
