C Sylendra Babu Appointed As New Chief Of Tamil Nadu Police - Know All About The Top Cop
DGP C. Sylendra Babu from 1987 batch IPS officer, will take charge in the place of JK Tripathy who is remitting the office tomorrow.
Chennai: Tamil Nadu government on Tuesday appointed DGP C Sylendra Babu as the new head of the Police Force replacing JK Tripathy. Dr, Babu will be holding office for the tenure of two years, according to senior officials.
A-1987 batch IPS officer, Babu served in Chennai as JC, as IG in Coimbatore city commissioner and north zone. After getting promotion as ADGP he served in Prisons, and Coastal Security Group besides Railways. Following his promotion as DGP in March 2019 he continued to serve Railways.
According to The Hindu reports, Dr Babu has received many awards, including the President’s Police Medal for Meritorious Service (2005), President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (2013) and Chief Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Public Service (2019).
Other contenders who topped the list were Karan Sanghia of 1987-batch and Sanjay Arora of the 1988 batch of the Indian Police Service (IPS), Tamil Nadu cadre.
