Chennai: Congress leader Rahul Gandhi met T Shamugham and Maniratnam, the family members of deceased NEET aspirant Anitha, during the padyatra as part of Bharat Jodo Yatra on Thursday. During his yatra in Kanyakumari, he met the father and brother of Anitha and assured his full support to the fight undertaken by the family.

Later, Rahul Gandhi took to Facebook and said, “Met late NEET aspirant, Anitha's father, T Shanmugham and her brother, Maniratnam, today (Thursday). Her story, and the ordeal her family has had to go through is heart-wrenching.”

“NEET has wrecked havoc with the lives of our students. The introduction and implementation of such examinations have to be done with careful consideration. They must not be imposed on youngsters in an autocratic manner, but should, instead, aim to fulfil their dreams and aspirations. The futures of thousands of youth are at stake here,” he said.
