Bengal Bypoll Results: Mamata Banerjee's TMC Registers A Clean Sweep Winning All 4 Seats

Bengal Bypoll Results: Of the four Assembly constituencies where the TMC won, three seats – Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagdah, and Raiganj – were previously held by the BJP.

Bengal Bypoll Results: In a big win for the INDIA bloc, the All India Trinamool Congress on Saturday swept all four Assembly seats in West Bengal where bypolls were held on July 10. Of the four, three seats--Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagdah, and Raiganj-- were previously held by the BJP. Celebrations were held in Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee-led TMC camps, with the ruling party activists organising victory processions at different pockets going by the trend.

Trinamool Congress candidate Madhuparna Thakur won the Bagda Assembly constituency in North 24 Parganas district against her nearest competitor and BJP candidate Binay Kumar Biswas. Bypolls in Raiganj were necessitated after BJP MLA Biswajit Das gave up his seats to contest the Lok Sabha elections.

Similarly, in the case of Ranaghat-Dakshin in Nadia district, the Trinamool Congress candidate Dr Mukutmani Adhikari won against BJP candidate Manoj Kumar Biswas. Ranaghat-Dakshin also, bypolls were necessitated after BJP's Mukut Mani Adhikari gave up their seats to contest the Lok Sabha election. 

At Raiganj constituency in North Dinajpur district, Trinamool Congress's Krishna Kalyani won by a margin of nearly 50,000 votes against BJP's Manas Kumar Ghosh. Bypolls in Raigunj were held after Krishna Kalyani gave up his seat before the Lok Sabha elections. 

At Maniktala in Kolkata, the Trinamool Congress candidate Supti Pandey won against BJP candidate Kalyan Chaubey by 83,110. Bypoll in Maniktala were held after the death of state minister Sadhan Pandey in February 2022.

Of the four Assembly constituencies, three seats – Ranaghat Dakshin, Bagdah and Raiganj – were bagged by the BJP in the 2021 state election while the remaining one – Maniktala in Kolkata – was won by the TMC after the 2021 West Bengal Assembly elections. 

About 63 per cent of polling was recorded in the four Assembly constituencies in West Bengal during bypolls on Wednesday. While the TMC asserted the polling was peaceful, the BJP alleged that the ruling party workers had indulged in electoral malpractices to win the election.
