Won't Be Surprised If Number Goes To 100: Rajnath Singh On Killing Of Criminals In Police Encounters In UP

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said that he won’t be surprised if the number of criminals under the ‘cleaning’ of the UP government goes to 100.

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday hailed CM Yogi Adityanath’s governance in the state of Uttar Pradesh and the law-and-order situation in the state. Referring to the killing of dreaded criminals in police encounters, he said that he won’t be surprised if the number of criminals under the ‘cleaning’ of the UP government goes to 100.

According to ANI, he said, "The way the cleaning is being carried out in UP, I won't be surprised if the number goes to 100 if the culprits do not reform."

He said that he saw 'Ab Tak 63' on a news portal, and won't be surprised if it becomes a century.

The minister was speaking during the inauguration and stone laying of 352 development projects worth Rs 1,450 crores in the capital city of Lucknow.

Singh credited Yogi Adityanath for the development of Lucknow and Mohanlalganj. "Yogi ji has handled this responsibility with alacrity. You are painted in the colours of Holi and Lucknow is seen painted in the colours of development", he said, as quoted by ANI.

The Defence Minister added, "Today is an important day for UP, as Yogi Adityanath is completing six years as CM today. There was no chief minister in UP for such a long time. Yogiji has broken the record of Sampurnanand ji by becoming the Chief Minister of UP for the longest time."

Talking specifically about the law-and-order in the state, he said that it was the first condition and oxygen for development and today people across the country are aware of the improved law-and-order in Uttar Pradesh.

Rajnath Singh said that law and order is the first condition and oxygen for development and today people not only inside UP but across the country and the world are aware of the improved law and order situation in the state under the leadership of CM Yogi, reported ANI.

The comments come on the backdrop of the hunt that the UP Police has begun to nab the killers of Umesh Pal, who was shot dead in daylight in UP’s Prayagraj last month. Two of the accused have been killed by the police in an encounter while police are trying to locate others, including jailed gangster Atiq Ahmed’s son.

Speaking about the economy of the state, Rajnath Singh said, " The work on realising Yogi Adityanath's dream of making UP a one trillion-dollar economy is going on fast. Several schemes including roads, sewer plants, service roads etc. are being inaugurated and foundation stones are being laid. This is possible because of the sensitivity of the PM and the understanding of Yogiji."

He informed on the occasion that so far 9 flyovers have been built, three are under construction and 5 new flyovers have been approved. He added that Lucknow City and Charbagh Railway Station have been selected under the Amrit Bharat Scheme.
