The Thai Uttarakhand Association recently celebrated Uttarakhand Foundation Day with a grand and vibrant event at the Radisson Blu Plaza in Bangkok. Marking this special occasion, the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, sent a video message, extending his best wishes and commending the Thai Uttarakhand Association for their dedicated efforts in promoting Uttarakhand’s heritage abroad. Senior officials from the Indian Embassy attended the event, adding to its significance.
More than 180 members of the Uttarakhand diaspora and the broader Indian community gathered for this celebratory evening. The highlight of the event was a musical performance by renowned Uttarakhand singers Maya Upadhyay and Rakesh Khanwal, who captivated the audience with soulful Garhwali and Kumaoni songs. Their music transported the attendees to the hills of Uttarakhand, evoking pride and nostalgia for their homeland.
Local artists, including Lalit Mamgain, Anil Kaithura, Mahipal Rawat, and Avni Jadli, also delivered outstanding performances, winning over the audience with their artistic flair. The event was seamlessly hosted by Ritu Chauhan and Mukesh Chauhan, whose engaging emceeing added energy to the celebration.
Prominent businessman and senior member Dr. Akhil Kala spoke on the Association’s mission and vision, emphasising its role in preserving Uttarakhand’s rich cultural heritage and uniting the Uttarakhand diaspora. He highlighted the significance of maintaining cultural connections for future generations.
Thai Uttarakhand Association President Dr. Chandra Shekhar Silori expressed his happiness over the event’s success, attributing it to the hard work of the Association’s core team. He acknowledged core team members Rashmi Rathore, Hema Pandey, Ritu Chauhan, Phanu Jethi, Naresh Semwal, Karan Rawat, Rahul Nautiyal, Vipul Sharma, Anand Nautiyal, and all Thai Uttarakhand members for their dedication and support, which made this gathering possible.
Dr. Silori also expressed gratitude to the chief guests, individual and corporate sponsors, and Indian Embassy officials who contributed to the event’s success. Through this celebration, the Uttarakhand community displayed their love for their culture, language, and homeland with great enthusiasm, reinforcing the strength and unity of the diaspora.
