Uttar Pradesh: Power Discom Officer Suspended For Putting Osama Bin Laden's Picture In Office
After the picture of Laden along with the message went viral on social media, senior district officials, taking note of it, ordered the suspension of the sub-divisional officer.
New Delhi: An officer of a state-run power distribution company in Uttar Pradesh was suspended over having a picture of Osama Bin Laden in his office on Wednesday, news agency PTI reported. According to the report, the discom official termed the slain Al-Qaeda founder as the “world’s best junior engineer”, PTI sources said.
As per the PTI report, the sub-divisional officer (SDO) with the Dakshinanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd (DVVNL), Ravindra Prakash Gautam, placed a picture of Al-Qaeda founder Osama Bin Laden in his office along with a note below it that read, “Respected Osama bin Laden, world’s best junior engineer”, the officials said.

After the picture of Laden along with the message went viral on social media, senior district officials, taking note of it, ordered the suspension of the sub-divisional officer. The picture of Osama Bin Laden was also removed from his office, the officials further said.
“Managing Director of DVVNL has suspended SDO Ravindra Prakash Gautam following an inquiry into the incident,” PTI quoted Farrukhabad District Magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh as saying.

Meanwhile, the suspended officer has defended his act saying, “Anyone can be an idol. Osama was the best junior engineer of the world. The picture has been removed, but I have its several copies.”
