UP Govt Completes Madrasa Survey: Over 8,500 Unrecognised Madrasas Found, Most In Moradabad

The most number of unrecognised madrasas have been found in Moradabad with 557 while the lowest was in Hathras with just one unrecognised madrasa. 

New Delhi: The Uttar Pradesh government has completed the survey process for detection of unrecognised Madrasas in the state and have revealed the figures, sources told ABP News. Across 75 districts in the state, 8,596 madrasas have been found as unrecognised in the survey that was taken up in September and the report was to be submitted by November 15.

The most number of unrecognised madrasas have been found in Moradabad with 557 such religious educational institutions while the lowest was in Hathras with just one unrecognised madrasa. 

During the survey conducted, when asked about the source of funds for running of madrasas, 90 per cent of the madrasas said that their source of funds is primarily from donations received from nearby communities and the government will now probe these sources. 

The survey also revealed that around 6.65 lakh students are currently enrolled in 8,596 such unrecognised madrasas.
