UP Election 2022: Election Commission 3-Day Visit Begins Today, To Meet Stakeholders & Assess Poll Preparedness

A team of the Election Commission of India will hold a meeting with senior officials and District Magistrates of 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh.

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) is on a three-day visit to the poll-bound state of Uttar Pradesh. Election Commission will hold meetings with political parties and other stakeholders assessing the situation ahead of the much-awaited UP polls 2022.

Chief Election Commissioner along with a team of ECI officials will reach Lucknow today where they will hold a meeting with all the SPs and SSPs of all the districts. 

During the visit, ECI will also hold a meeting with senior officials and District Magistrates of 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. Through this meeting, the commission will receive poll-related feedback. The commission is likely to take any decision regarding organising the election based on this feedback.

While on one hand preparation for the UP assembly election 2022 is in full swing by all the political parties with mass public gatherings and rallies, increasing Covid-19 cases across the country have cast a doubt whether elections should be held as planned or a delay is required. 

The matter turned more serious and concerning after the Allahabad High Court requested the Prime Minister and the Election Commission of India to postpone the elections. 

Here is the schedule of the three-day visit:

December 28

4 PM to 6 PM: Meeting with national and regional political parties. 

6:15 PM to 7:30 PM: Meeting with state police nodal officials and nodal officers of the central police force. 

7:30 PM to 9:00 PM: Meeting with various enforcement agencies. 

December 29

9:30 AM to 1:30 PM: Meeting with District Election Officers, Superintendents of Police, and Inspector Generals of 10 zones 

3 PM to 9 PM: Meeting with District Election Officers, Superintendents of Police, Commissioners, and Inspector Generals. 

December 30

10 PM to 11 PM: Meeting with Chief Secretary and Director General of Police

12 to 12:45 PM: Press Conference
