A similar incident happened in Chennai on Monday where a police constable of Saidapet Police Station was suspended on charges of beating up a bus conductor working with the Metropolitan Transport Corporation, reported the Indian Express.
As per Greater Chennai Police, the constable John Louis while he was working in the night shift, had gotten into an argument with the bus conductor, Balachandran near the Metro Hotel in Saidapet after the latter was allegedly caught spitting in a public place.
Louis had then allegedly thrashed Balachandran who had to be later taken to the Saidapet Government Hospital, said the officers, reported the publication.
A video of the incident has been going viral on the social media where Balachandran said that Louis asked him how he spat in front of him and then started thrashing him. Later a couple of police personnel arrived at the spot and took away Balachandran in order to stop him from further speaking to the media, the publication reported.
A case was registered at the J-1 Saidapet police station and Louis was suspended afterwards, the police had said adding that a departmental enquiry will also be soon initiated against the suspended constable.
