‘Aadhe Ghante Mein Khaali Karao’: Union Min Smriti Irani Reprimands Official Over 'Land Encroachment' In Amethi — Watch

Union Minister Smriti Irani, before her election from Amethi, had made a promise to the electorate that she would she would build a house in the town and become a resident.

New Delhi: Union minister Smriti Irani is on a four-day visit to her parliamentary constituency of Amethi beginning Monday. While listening to people's grievances in the Tikar Mafi area of UP's Amethi, the Lok Sabha MP reprimanded an administrative official over an alleged land encroachment and directed the SDM to get the land vacated within half an hour.

In a video shared by news agency PTI, she can be heard pulling up an official for a house built on another man's land, directing that the land be vacated in 30 minutes.

 Speaking to the media, Smriti Irani also talked about the investment in Amethi and took a dig at the constituency's former Lok Sabha representative Rahul Gandhi, saying, "Amethi has received an investment of Rs 6523 crore in the Investors Summit... The anger of the people of Amethi against the Gandhi family is clearly visible...Today when he (Rahul Gandhi) arrived, he was welcomed by empty streets.. In Amethi, I fought against a candidate who had the support of many people...Empty streets were showing that they have nothing to do with the Gandhi Family..."

Irani's representative Vijay Gupta announced her schedule, indicating that she will be present in her constituency for four days. During this period, she is set to engage in interactions with residents from various villages and participate in her house-warming ceremony scheduled for February 22nd, reported PTI.

Rahul Gandhi, Smriti Irani In Amethi On Same Day 

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra on Monday resumed from Amethi in Uttar Pradesh.  Gandhi had represented Amethi in the Lok Sabha for 15 years before he was defeated by Irani in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections.

This marks the second occasion since 2019 when both leaders will be present in Amethi simultaneously. Their previous concurrent visit occurred in February 2022 when they attended separate campaign events in the lead-up to the assembly polls.
