PM Modi To Visit Mahoba, Jhansi In UP Today To Inaugurate Defence Industrial Corridor & Other Projects

The projects that are slated to be inaugurated include Arjun Sahayak Irrigation Project, Ratauli Weir Project, Bhauni Dam Project and Mazgaon Chilly Spraying Project.  

New Delhi: In an important initiative to mitigate the water crisis and provide much-needed relief to the farmers in the Bundelkhand region, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Mahoba and Jhansi districts and launch several projects in Uttar Pradesh on Friday. The projects that are slated to be inaugurated include Arjun Sahayak Irrigation Project, Ratauli Weir Project, Bhauni Dam Project, and Mazgaon Chilly Spraying Project.

Solar Power Park in Jhansi

The cumulative cost of the projects is more than Rs. 3250 Crore and their operation will help irrigate about 65,000 hectares of land in Mahoba, Hamirpur, Banda, and Lalitpur districts. These projects will benefit lakhs of farmers in the region, apart from providing a constant supply of potable drinking water here. At around 5 pm tomorrow, the Prime Minister would be attending a function, during which he would lay the foundation stone for a 600 MW Ultramega Solar Power Park at Garautha, Jhansi. Being constructed at a cost of over Rs 3,000 crore, it will help provide both cheap power and grid stability to the region.

PM to inaugurate Atal Ekta Park

The Prime Minister would also be inaugurating the Atal Ekta Park in Jhansi. Named after India's former Prime Minister Shri. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, the park has been built at a cost of over Rs. 11 crore and spans across an area of about 40,000 square meters. It is said to have a public library along with a statue of Shri. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, built by renowned Indian sculptor Ram Sutar. At around 5.15pm on November 19, PM Modi would be launching several Defense-related initiatives at the 'Rashtra Raksha Samarpan Parv', which is being organised as part of the 'Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav' event being held in Jhansi between November 17 and 19.

Would emphasize India's "Self-Reliance" in Defense Sector

In a bid to emphasize India's "Self-Reliance" in the defense sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will formally hand over indigenously designed defense equipment to the Chiefs of India's Armed Forces. This would include handing over the Light Combat Helicopter (LCH) indigenously designed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to the Chief of the Air Staff, a Drone (UAV) designed and developed by an Indian Start-Up company to the Army Chief and an Advanced Electronic Warfare Suit for Naval Ships designed collectively by DRDO and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) to the Chief of Naval Staff.

Light Combat Helicopter represents India's advanced technical and stealth advances for effective combat roles, deployment of Indian UAVs by Indian Armed Forces represents the advancements of the Indian drone industry and advancements in EW suits will be seen in many of India's Naval vessels, including destroyers, warships, among others. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation of a Rs 400 crore project at the Jhansi Node of the UP Defense Industrial Corridor. The project is being implemented by Bharat Dynamics Limited and would involve setting up a plant to manufacture propulsion systems for guided anti-tank missiles.

The Prime Minister would also be launching the NCC Alumni Association with the objective of providing a formal platform for NCC Alumni to connect and socialise. The Association will further the objectives of the NCC and would help in development of the nation.

The Prime Minister will be nominating a former NCC cadet as the first member of the Association during this event. The Prime Minister will also launch a National Program for Simulation Training for NCC Cadets, aimed with the objective of enhancing simulation training facilities for all three wings of the NCC. This includes the setting up of Rifle-Firing simulator for Army wing of the NCC, a microlight flying simulator for the Air wing, and a Rowing simulator for the naval wing.
