Gyanvapi Mosque Survey: A team of ASI (Archaeological Survey of India) has arrived at the Gyanvapi mosque complex in Varanasi to continue the survey for the third day. Advocate Vishnu Shankar Jain, one of the legal representatives of the Hindu side, said that the team conducted a detailed study of the western wall, 'tahkhana' and others on Saturday during the second day of the survey. Another advocate from the Hindu side, Subhash Nandan Chaturvedi said that the primary stage has finished and the secondary stage will begin on Sunday. Certain special kinds of machines are expected to be employed by the ASI on the third day.

"...Yesterday, a detailed study of the western wall was done. The grass in the area from western wall to barricading was removed. The 'tahkhana' was cleaned and exhaust is being installed. I pointed out a hollow sound beneath the central dome, it is being investigated. An area beside the central dome, which is covered artificially, was also pointed out. So, investigations are going on. This is a long investigation and it continues gradually..," Vishnu Shankar Jain told ANI.

"The Commission is carrying out the procedure and it's long. The court has given us 4 weeks' time...The work is happening...Ground penetrating radar machine will be used in the coming times. Please have some patience...The ASI is a premium agency, the work will carry on..," he added.

Sudhir Tripathi, an advocate representing the Hindu side said, "Today is the third day of the survey. Several machines including DGPS were used yesterday and there is a possibility that radars might be used today. We are satisfied with the survey and the Muslim side has no complaints and they also cooperating."

On the second day of the scientific investigation, the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) studied the central hall of the Gyanvapi mosque to ascertain if the 17th-century mosque was built atop a pre-existing Hindu temple construction, news agency PTI reported. On Saturday, government attorney Rajesh Mishra, who was also on the ASI survey team the day before, claimed the crew began work in the morning and finished by 5 p.m. The survey activity was paused between 1 and 3 p.m. for lunch.

According to ASI authorities, the crew checked the mosque's center hall, where Namaz is offered. In addition, the crew also investigated a few basement sections of the property.
