The Char Dham yatra begins today on the auspicious day of Akshay Tritiya. The Char Dham Yatra in Uttarakhand is one of the most popular Hindu pilgrimages in India. This pilgrimage is a tour of four holy sites - Badrinath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri - nestled high up in the Himalayas. The doors of Kedarnath Dham will open on April 25 and Gangotri Dham on April 22. With the Char Dham Yatra set to start in Uttarakhand, Dr R Rajesh Kumar, secretary, of the state health department, issued a health advisory for pilgrims on Wednesday.
On the instructions of Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, the daily cap restricting the number of devotees for the Chardham Yatra has been withdrawn, according to an official letter from the Additional Chief Secretary on Friday. The process of online and offline registration will remain the same as it helps keep track of devotees.
Preparations have been completed and the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines and it will be opened on April 22. After the opening of doors of Shri Kedarnath and Shri Badrinath Dham On April 25, the Chardham Yatra will formally start in Uttarakhand. Preparations have been completed to open the portals of Gangotri and Yamunotri shrines on Saturday, April 22, on the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Tritiya. The temple of Ganga and Yamuna is grandly decorated with color lacquer.
The government has also issued a guideline for the pilgrims regarding the Char Dham Yatra. At the Gangotri temple, the doors will be opened at 12.35 pm after special prayers at Gangotri Dham. At the Yamunotri temple, at around 8.25 AM, the doli of Yamuna led by Lord Shani will leave from Kharsali, the winter abode of Yamuna and will reach Yamunotri Dham by 11 am after which the doors of the temple will be opened at 12.41 pm.
