BJP's Divide & Rule Policy Didn't Spare Even Hindus: Akhilesh Yadav

Calling for unity among all the non-BJP outfits, Yadav said the Congress should support all the regional parties to defeat the BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

New Delhi: Launching a scathing attack on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav said the saffron party has taken the cue of ‘divide and rule’ from the British, but they are not only creating a divide between Hindus and Muslims but among the Hindus as well.

His statements come days after he lashed out at the BJP over Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s disqualification from the Lok Sabha.

Taking potshots at Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Central government, Akhilesh Yadav had said the action taken against Gandhi was a tactic to divert attention from the real issues ailing the country, such as unemployment and price hike.

“In Uttar Pradesh, the BJP has taken away membership of several Samajwadi Party leaders. Today the membership of Congress's biggest leader has been taken away. If we look at everything this way, then a lot of BJP members would also be disqualified. If fairly probed, then a lot of BJP members would get disqualified for the kind of language they use and statements they make,” news agency PTI quoted Akhilesh Yadav as saying.

“This has been done to deliberately divert people's attention from real issues like inflation and unemployment, and an industrialist friend who has sunk India's money. They don't want to discuss these issues,” he added.

Calling for unity among all the non-BJP outfits, Yadav said the Congress should support all the regional parties to defeat the BJP in 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

“In Uttar Pradesh, the Samajwadi Party is fighting and struggling against the BJP at all levels. In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, the SP will defeat the BJP. All people should support Samajwadi Party to get the UP and the country rid of the BJP,” the Samajwadi Party president said.
