Atiq Ahmed, Ashraf Likely To Be Buried Beside Asad At Prayagraj Cemetery Tonight, Security Beefed Up

Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf are likely to be buried beside Asad at Prayagraj cemetery tonight.

Gangster Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf, who were killed in Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday night by three people, are likely to be buried beside Asad at Prayagraj cemetery tonight.

Police, RAF, and CRPF personnel have been deployed in every lane leading to the cemetery. Several lamps have been installed around the cemetery to illuminate the entire burial ground.

Two graves were dug on Sunday for Atiq and Asraf.

"It will take about 8-10 hours. The graves have to be 7-8 ft deep. The sun is blazing so it is taking more effort," Janu Khan, the grave digger, said while toiling in the scorching heat on Sunday afternoon, reported PTI.

The cemetery is situated in the ancestral town of Ahmad. Atiq Ahmad's parents, according to Khan, were also buried there.

Khan, who likewise pre-arranged Asad's grave, said that it was the occupants of the region who advised him to dig the graves and not Ahmad's relatives.

"I have also dug the grave of his (Atiq's) father. My father had dug the grave of his mother," he said.

Only a few distant relatives and locals were present when Asad Ahmad's final rites were performed on Saturday at the Kasari Masari cemetery, which was heavily guarded by the police.

Asad and his associate Ghulam, both wanted in the Umesh Pal murder case, were shot dead in a trade of discharge with the Uttar Pradesh Police close to Jhansi on Thursday.

Since his death on February 24, Asad, the third of Atiq Ahmad's five sons, has been on the run.

Atiq Ahmad (60) and his brother Ashraf were shot dead at point-blank range by three men posing as journalists just hours after Asad was buried. The men were responding to questions from the media while being escorted by police to a medical college in Prayagraj for a checkup.
