'UP Police Can Poison Me': Akhilesh Yadav Refuses Tea Offered By Cops After Arrest Of SP Leader. Watch

Numerous SP employees gathered in front of the Uttar Pradesh Police headquarters in protest of Agarwal's arrest.

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav turned down tea at the Lucknow Police headquarters on Sunday and expressed concern that he would be poisoned there, reported news agency PTI. Akhilesh said, “We will not drink tea here. We’ll bring ours (tea), take your cup. We can’t drink, will you give poison? We don’t believe you. We’ll get it from outside.”

Manish Jagan Agarwal, a member of the Samajwadi Party, was taken into custody earlier in the day on suspicion of posting inappropriate and derogatory remarks on social media.

Numerous SP employees gathered in front of the Uttar Pradesh Police headquarters in protest of Agarwal's arrest and demanded his immediate release.

Tea was offered to Yadav while he was at the headquarters, but he declined.

Additionally, he claimed that he did not encounter a senior at the police station.

"When I reached the Police Headquarters, there was no one inside. If there is no one to listen to in the Police Headquarters, then imagine what would be the state of the rest of UP," Yadav told reporters.

Additional DG Law and order Prashant Kumar, later in his response, said "Since it was Sunday, officials were present as per requirement, and he spoke with them." "Subsequently, officials who were present here offered him tea, and he had tea," he added.

Meanwhile, Akhilesh stated to members of the media in Lucknow that he does not anticipate "justice from the BJP government" due to the police and administration's support for those "who do injustice and lie," reported news agency ANI.

"Don't expect justice from BJP Govt. Police & admin are with those who do injustice & lie. Those who speaks truth will be punished. This isn't just about one day, BJP makes its people use derogatory language deliberately so that others respond," said SP chief.

The sources claim that the BJP and the Samajwadi Party's Twitter dispute lasted for some time, reported ANI.

Three cases have been filed against Manish Jagan Agarwal in Hazratganj Kotwali, according to police sources.

According to sources, Richa Rajput, the BJP Yuva Morcha's in-charge of social media, had also filed a case on January 4 against the Samajwadi party's Twitter handle.
