Akhilesh Yadav Claims Death Toll In 24 UP Districts 43 Times More Than Government Figures

Akhilesh Yadav claimed that in the nine-month period till March 31, 2021, the death toll in 24 districts of Uttar Pradesh was 43 times more than the government figures.

Lucknow: Samajwadi Party President and former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav has accused the Yogi government of hiding the real number of people killed during the coronavirus epidemic. He claimed that the death toll is 43 times more than the figures given by the government.

Akhilesh Yadav tweeted on Tuesday, saying, "The RTI data shows that the death toll in 24 districts of UP in the nine months of the pandemic till March 31, 2021, is 43 times more than the government figures."

The Samajwadi Party president alleged in the tweet, "The BJP state government is hiding its face and not the death toll." However, Akhilesh has not revealed details about when or who this information was given to under the RTI.

Earlier, Akhilesh Yadav had alleged that the pace of vaccination, promoted as 'Raksha Kavach' to prevent the coronavirus infection, has slowed down due to BJP's 'narrow-minded politics.' Akhilesh said that complaints of negligence in vaccination are coming from all over the state. The pace of the COVID-19 vaccination campaign has slowed down because of BJP's narrow-minded politics. The BJP government has announced its target of getting everyone vaccinated by Diwali, but it seems like a far cry.

The SP president said that the policies of the BJP government are unclear, due to which the vaccination drive is getting embroiled in controversies. The BJP is playing games in the state regarding the vaccines and people are bearing the brunt.
