4 Minors Among 9 Killed After Tractor Falls Into Drain In UP's Saharanpur
Nine people, including four minors, died after a tractor-trolley fell into a drain in UP's Saharanpur district.
Nine people, including four children, were killed after a tractor-trolley fell into a drain near Redhibodki village in the Saharanpur district of Uttar Pradesh. The incident took place on Wednesday evening in the Tajpura area. The trolley was carrying around 50 devotees to Randual village for a religious event, Superintendent of Police, Abhimanyu Manglik told PTI. Police recovered four bodies from the drain on Wednesday and five on the next day.
The four victims were identified as Sulochana, 58, Manglesh, 50, and Aditi and Arjun, both aged five and 12. The other five are yet to be identified. The police were also reportedly searching for one missing person.
Meanwhile, several bodies were washed away due to the strong currents of the river. The spot was visited by Saharanpur District Magistrate Dr Dinesh Chand and SSP Dr Vipin Tada.
Tada said that the villagers were warned not to take the route but the driver of the tractor disregarded the advice.

The SSP said that an excavation machine was called to the site to assist with the rescue work. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed grief over the deaths of victims and asked the Saharanpur administration to immediately grant Rs 4 lakh each to victims' kin, an official statement said.
He also instructed the authorities concerned to provide proper treatment to the injured and wished them a speedy recovery.
