Chaos In Telangana Assembly After Defected Congress MLA Uses 'Abusive Language', BRS Walkout

The controversy began during a short discussion on the development of Hyderabad, where Nagender, the MLA from Khairatabad, was interrupted by BRS members.

The Telangana Assembly session on Friday descended into chaos when Danam Nagender, an MLA who recently defected from the opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) to the ruling Congress, allegedly used foul language against BRS members. The incident led to a heated confrontation and a subsequent walkout by BRS legislators.

Tensions flared when BRS MLAs vehemently protested against Nagender's remarks. The controversy began during a short discussion on the development of Hyderabad, where Nagender, the MLA from Khairatabad, was interrupted by BRS members. Annoyed by these interruptions, Nagender allegedly used abusive and threatening language towards P. Kaushik Reddy and other BRS members, daring them to confront him and warning that he would not allow them to walk on the streets, according to a report on IANS.

The situation escalated as BRS MLAs, led by KT Rama Rao, rushed towards the podium to lodge their protest. Nagender also attempted to advance towards the protesting members, further intensifying the confrontation. Congress MLAs intervened to calm Nagender, while Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar directed him to return to his seat.

AIMIM floor leader Akbaruddin Owaisi criticized the use of abusive language in the Assembly, urging members to maintain decorum. Speaker Kumar admonished Nagender for his unparliamentary remarks. In his defense, Nagender claimed that the words he used were part of Hyderabadi slang and expressed regret if they offended any member, as per the report.

Despite his apology, the BRS MLAs, dissatisfied with the explanation, walked out of the Assembly in protest. This incident is particularly significant as Nagender is one of the ten BRS MLAs who defected to the Congress party since March, adding to the political friction in the state.

The Assembly session continued with the absence of the protesting BRS members.
