Three Killed In Head-On Collision Between Lorries On Madurai–Thoothukudi Highway

A head-on collision between two lorries on the Madurai-Thoothukudi highway near Aruppukottai killed three people, including both drivers.

Three persons, including the drivers of two lorries, were killed in a head-on collision on Madurai–Thoothukudi National Highway near Palayampatti junction, close to Aruppukottai in Virudhunagar district. According to police, the accident occurred when a container lorry transporting raw materials for paper manufacturing was en route from Thoothukudi to Palani via Aruppukottai.

A goods lorry coming from Madurai towards Thoothukudi reportedly lost control, crossed into the opposite lane, and rammed into the oncoming container vehicle.

The impact of the collision was severe, killing both lorry drivers and a third occupant instantly at the scene. Emergency services rushed to the spot and traffic was temporarily disrupted as authorities worked to clear the wreckage.

An investigation has been launched to determine the exact cause of the accident.
