Amit Shah Slams TN CM Stalin’s 'Hindi Imposition' Claim In Rajya Sabha: 'To Hide Their Corruption...'
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also challenged Tamil Nadu government led by CM Stalin to introduce medical and engineering courses in Tamil in the state.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Friday criticised the Tamil Nadu government led by the DMK in the Rajya Sabha, accusing it of disregarding Indian languages while favouring foreign ones. He emphasised that Hindi is not a rival but a friend of all Indian languages.
Shah said, "I would like to say something so that those who divide the country in the name of language do not get their agenda. Under the Department of Official Language, Narendra Modi Govt has set up Indian Languages Section which will work to enhance the usage of all Indian languages - Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Gujarati, Punjabi, Assamese, Bengali, all languages. After December, I will have written correspondence with citizens, CMs, Ministers and MPs in their own language. This is a strong reply to those who run their shops in the name of language to hide their corruption."
Dismissing allegations of discrimination against South Indian languages, Shah pointed out that leaders from various linguistic backgrounds, including Tamil Nadu’s Nirmala Sitharaman and himself from Gujarat, are part of the government. He also challenged the Tamil Nadu government introducing medical and engineering courses in Tamil in the state. "I would like to tell Tamil Nadu Government - we have been saying for two years that you do not have the courage to translate medical and engineering study material into Tamil...You cannot do this. When an NDA govt comes to power (in Tamil Nadu), we will provide medical and engineering course in Tamil, in Tamil Nadu," he asserted.
The Union Minister also added, "I would like to tell those who spread poison in the name of language that you like languages from thousands of kilometres away but you do not language of India."

Vaiko To Home Minister
Shah’s remarks sparked a fresh political storm amid the ongoing controversy of DMK and other Tamil Nadu parties accusing the Centre of imposing Hindi through the National Education Policy’s (NEP) three-language formula. The Stalin-led Tamil Nadu government has consistently opposed the NEP, refusing to implement it in the state.
MDMK Chief Vaiko and other Tamil Nadu MPs in the Rajya Sabha strongly objected to the Centre’s approach. Vaiko reiterated Tamil’s global significance, stating, "I would like to ask the Home Minister when he visited the first time, he said Hindi will be definitely imposed, then an agitation started".
Taking part in the discussion on the working of the Ministry of Home Affairs, he accused the Home Ministry of "victimizing" Tamil Nadu by withholding disaster relief funds.
