PM Modi Announces Ex Gratia For Families Of Jaipur-Ajmer Highway Accident Victims

Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured in the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway accident.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday announced an ex gratia payment for the next of kin of the deceased and those injured in the road accident on the Jaipur-Ajmer Highway in Rajasthan. 

Seven people were killed while over 35 were injured in a deadly collision involving a gas tanker and multiple vehicles on the highway triggering a fire that gutted over 30 vehicles. 

PM Modi expressed grief on the loss of lives and speedy recovery to those injured. He announced an ex gratia payment of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister's Relief Fund for the next of kin of the deceased and a financial assistance of Rs 50,000 to the injured. 

"Deeply saddened by the loss of lives in the accident on Jaipur-Ajmer highway in Rajasthan. Condolences to those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover soon. The local administration is assisting those affected," said the Prime Minister's Office in a post on X. 

"An ex gratia of Rs. 2 lakh from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of each deceased. The injured would be given Rs. 50,000," the post read further. 

President Droupadi Murmu offered her condolences to the families of the deceased saying the accident was very painful. 

She also prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured. 

"The news of the death of many people due to a road accident in Jaipur is very painful. I pray to God for peace to the departed souls. My deepest condolences to their families! I pray that the injured get well soon," Murmu said in a post on X in Hindi. 

The Rajasthan government also announced ex gratia for the families of the victims. The next of kin of the deceased will be given Rs 5 lakh by the state government while the injured will be given a sum of Rs 1 lakh. Additionally, necessary directions have been issued to the concerned authorities to ensure proper and prompt treatment of the injured.
