Maharashtra Govt Formation: BJP's Legislature Party Meeting On Dec 4, All MLAs Asked To Be In Mumbai
After the selection of the leader, the Mahayuti will go to Raj Bhavan and stake claim to form the government.
Maharashtra New CM: The meeting of the Maharashtra BJP Legislature Party to elect their leader will be held on December 4, according to sources. All the BJP MLAs have been instructed to come to Mumbai by Tuesday afternoon. After the selection of the leader, the Mahayuti will go to Raj Bhavan and stake claim to form the government.
Earlier, a senior BJP leader said the name of Devendra Fadnavis has been finalised as the new chief minister of Maharashtra who will be elected as the legislature party leader in a meeting to be held either on December 2 or 3.
BJP's Mahayuti allies Shiv Sena and NCP have elected their respective leaders already. Earlier, it was reported that BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis, Shiv Sena chief Eknath Shinde and NCP president Ajit Pawar will meet in Mumbai on Monday to finalise the ruling alliance's choice for the Chief Minister's post.
The meeting was put on hold after Shinde fell ill in his village on Friday. There was speculation that Shinde was upset about the way the government was taking shape, but Sena spokesperson Uday Samant denied it. On Sunday, Shinde said he worked as a common man, so the common man feels he should be back in the saddle.
More than a week after the Mahayuti clinched a massive victory in Maharashtra polls with the BJP emerging as the single largest party with 132 seats, the new government is yet to be sworn in.
The oath-taking ceremony of the Mahayuti government is scheduled for December 5 evening at Azad Maidan in Mumbai in the presence of PM Modi.
Meanwhile, Eknath Shinde's son Shirkant Shinde has denied reports of him being sworn in as a minister in the state cabinet.
