Mortal Remains Of 6 Pahalgam Victims To Be Flown To Maharashtra, Shinde Says 'Our Soldiers Will Avenge'
The six deceased from Maharashtra were among the 26 individuals who were killed in the terror attack in Pahalgam, Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday announced plans to bring the mortal remains of the six victims to the state who were killed in the J&K's Pahalgam terror attack. He stated that arrangements are being made to bring back stranded tourists, and Cabinet minister Girish Mahajan has departed for Srinagar to coordinate with local authorities there.
The six deceased from Maharashtra were among the 26 individuals who were killed in the terror attack in Pahalgam, Anantnag district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.
In a post on X, Fadnavis informed that the bodies of Sanjay Lele and Dilip Desale were being flown to Mumbai on an Air India flight scheduled to leave Srinagar at 12:15 pm. He added that another flight, set to depart from Srinagar at 1:15 PM, will bring back the remains of Hemant Joshi and Atul Mone.

Lele, Joshi, and Mone, who were maternal cousins, had travelled to Kashmir with their families. Their bodies will be brought to Bhagshala Maidan in Dombivli for public tributes before the final rites, which are to be held at the Hindi Shmashan Bhoomi in Dombivli East.
Later in the day, a flight carrying the bodies of Santosh Jadgale and Kaustubh Ganbote, victims from Pune, will leave Srinagar for Pune at 6 pm. Earlier, Pune District Collector Jitendra Dudi confirmed their deaths in the Pahalgam terror attack and said they were residents of Khadakwasla.
Additionally, the remains of Sumit Parmar and Yatish Parmar will be brought to Mumbai around 3 PM.
Fadnavis mentioned that the Maharashtra government has appointed senior Cabinet ministers Mangal Prabhat Lodha and Ashish Shelar to manage arrangements at Mumbai airport, while Minister of State Madhuri Misal will coordinate operations at Pune airport.
In addition, the Maharashtra Government also announced to provide Rs 5 lakh financial assistance to the families of 6 deceased who lost their lives during the cowardly terrorist attack.
Shinde Urges Civil Aviation Minister To Arrange Special Flight For Stranded Tourists
On the other hand, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has requested Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu to arrange a special flight to evacuate stranded tourists from Maharashtra in J&K's Pahalgam. In response, Ram Mohan Naidu assured Shinde that once the list of those individuals is provided, efforts will be made to safely return to Mumbai.
In a statement released by the office of Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde read, "Five tourists from Maharashtra lost their lives in the recent attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde had a phone conversation with Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu regarding arrangements to bring them back to the state."
"During the conversation, Shinde requested Naidu to arrange a special flight to bring back the tourists from Maharashtra stranded in Jammu and Kashmir. Accepting the request, Naidu assured that once a list of the stranded tourists is provided, arrangements will be made to bring them to Mumbai via a special flight. The DCM's request has been accepted," it further read, according to HT.
