Legendary Filmmaker K Viswanath Passes Away At 92: Kamal Haasan, Chiranjeevi & Others Condole Demise
Kasinadhuni Viswanath was conferred 48th Dadasaheb Phalke award in 2016.
Chennai: Filmmaker Kasinadhuni Viswanath died in the wee hours of Friday at a private hospital in Hyderabad. The director was under treatment for quite some time due to age-related ailments and was recently admitted to a hospital where he breathed his last.
K Viswanath was 92 years old at the time of his death and he is survived by his wife and three children. The mortal remains of Viswanathan were taken to his residence in Jubilee Hills for paying homage.
A prominent name, not just in Telugu cinema but also in Tamil and Hindi films, he became the 48th recipient of the Dadasaheb Phalke award, the highest recognition in Indian cinema in 2016. He also received Padma Shri in 1992.
K Viswanath has directed over 50 films in Telugu, Hindi and Tamil languages and he is also known for his acting in Yaaradi Nee Mohini film in Tamil.
His movie has been India’s official entry for Best Foreign Language film at the 59 th Academy Awards. The blockbuster movie Swathimuthyam starring Kamal Haasan received the honour.
In a note, Kamal Haasan said, "K Viswanath gaaru fully understood the transcience of life and immortality of art. Hence his art will be celebrated beyond his lifetime and reign. Long live his art. An arden fan Kamal Haasan."
