J&K: One Terrorist Killed In Shootout At Baramulla Ahead of PM Modi's Kashmir Visit
In Baramulla's Pattan, security forces are engaged in an encounter with terrorists. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to campaign in Jammu and Kashmir today
An unidentified terrorist was killed in the encounter that broke out between security forces and terrorists in the Pattan area of Jammu and Kashmir's Baramulla district. The encounter started at Chak Tapper Kreeri Pattan area of Baramulla, the Kashmir Zone Police said in a post on X.

This comes after two army personnel were killed and two others injured in an encounter that broke out following a search operation in Jammu and Kashmir''s Kishtwar district. Meanwhile, in a separate encounter in Kathua, troops of the Rising Star Corps shot dead two terrorists.
Kishwar Encounter
In Kishwar, acting on a tip-off, security forces had launched a cordon and search operation in the Naidgham area in Chhatroo belt, police officials said.
There was an exchange of fire between search teams of security forces and hiding terrorists at Pingnal Dugadda forest area, upper reaches of Naidgham village under the jurisdiction of Police Station Chhatroo, they said.
In the ensuing firefight, two soldiers were killed in action, the army said.
Kathua Encounter
The Rising Star Corp in a post on X said the joint operation of security forces named Khandara was launched in Kathua on September 11. In the operation, troops of Rising Star Corps and Jammu and Kashmir Police neutralised two terrorists and recovered "large war-like stores" of arms and ammunition.

Jammu and Kasmir Elections
The encounters happened days before voting began for the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. Voting in eight assembly segments spread across Doda, Kishtwar and Ramban districts in the Chenab valley region, along with 16 seats in the south Kashmir districts of Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam will be in the first phase on September 18. While, Jammu, Kathua and Samba districts will vote in the second and third phases on September 25 and October 1, respectively.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to campaign in Jammu and Kashmir today.
