Kamal Nath To Take Part In Congress Yatra In MP: Senior Leader As Party Continues To Dismiss BJP 'Switch'

Sajjan Singh Verma said Kamal Nath conveyed his intention to summon all the in-charges of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee to deliberate on preparations for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

New Delhi: Speculation doing rounds over the potential defection of veteran Congress leader Kamal Nath to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) was swiftly dispelled once again on Monday by the Congress as misinformation, reaffirming Nath's steadfast loyalty to the party, in which he has spent over four decades.

Congress general secretary in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Jitendra Singh asserted that the question of the veteran leader quitting the party does not arise. He also mentioned that both the former Madhya Pradesh CM and his son Nakul Nath, a Lok Sabha MP, will participate in the Rahul Gandhi-led Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra when it passes through the state, reported PTI.

While talking to reporters Jitendra Singh said,  "Kamal Nath is a senior leader of our party. All these speculations have been made by the BJP and the media. I spoke to him yesterday and the day before yesterday also, and we discussed the preparations for the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra."

"Kamal Nath ji will also join those meetings and his suggestions for the yatra's passage will be taken note of", he remarked.

Nakul Nath To Contest LS Polls From Chhindwara As Cong Candidate: Kamal Nath's Confidant

Earlier, Kamal Nath's confidant, Sajjan Singh Verma, emphatically asserted that the notion of Nath abandoning the Congress was unfounded. Verma said Kamal Nath and his son Nakul Nath are not crossing over to the BJP and asserted that the latter will contest the Lok Sabha polls, likely to be held in April-May, from Chhindwara in Madhya Pradesh as the Congress candidate, as per PTI.

Sajjan Singh Verma disclosed that he engaged in a detailed conversation with Kamal Nath, who expressed his plans to convene a significant meeting in Bhopal to ensure the success of the Nyay Yatra. Nath conveyed his intention to summon all the in-charges of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee to deliberate on preparations for the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

In response to inquiries about media speculation surrounding Nath's political switch, Sajjan Singh Verma said, Kamal Nath questioned the validity of addressing what he referred to as an "imaginary question," indicating his reluctance to answer baseless questions.

"Thinking that the person who has worked with Indiraji, Rajivji and Sanjivji who is referred to as Indira's (Gandhi) third son, will leave the party is meaningless, PTI quoted Sajjan Singh Verma as saying.

Kamal Nath's arrival in Delhi over the weekend fueled speculation, prompting inquiries from the media about his political allegiances.
