Rishabh Pant Recovering Well, Likely To Be Discharged From Hospital This Week - Report

Rishabh Pant is likely to remain out of action for over next six months, which means majority of 2023, including this year's IPL and ODI World Cup in India.

Team India's star wicket-keeper batter Rishabh Pant is recovering well from his injuries after he met with a horrific car accident, last year in December. In a good news for the Indian fanbase, Pant will be reportedly discharged from the hospital this week. A few days ago, he shared an update about his recovery on social media. The 25-year-old is currently admitted to Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai, where he underwent surgery.

“He is doing pretty great. It’s good news from the medical team. The first surgery was successful and that is what everyone wanted to hear. He will be discharged this week,” a senior BCCI official was quoted as saying by InsideSport.

As per the same report, Pant will undergo second surgery in March to fix the torn ACL in his right knee.

“He will need another surgery in about a month. Doctors will decide when it is right to have the 2nd surgery. BCCI Medical team is in constant touch with Dr Pardiwala and the hospital. We hope to see him back on the field soon,” the official added.

Pant is likely to remain out of action for over next six months, which means majority of 2023, including this year's IPL and ODI World Cup in India.

“We are not even thinking of his comeback now. Focus is on his recovery. It’s still too early to say when he will return. As per his latest medical reports, it will take 8-9 months. But we are keeping our fingers crossed and hoping that he will be fit in time for the World Cup. But it looks highly unlikely,” a senior BCCI official told InsideSport.

Rishabh Pant was travelling from Delhi to Uttarakhand when his car collided with a divider near Roorkee. After initially being admitted in Dehradun for a few days, the star player was airlifted to Mumbai for treatment of his injuries.
