'A Feat That Will Be Cherished For Generations': PM Modi Lauds Indian Men's Hockey Team For Bronze Win In Olympics

Indian men's hockey team clinched a bronze medal in the ongoing Paris Olympics 2024, defeating Spain by 2-1.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday congratulated the Indian Men's hockey team for clinching a bronze medal in the Paris Olympics 2024, saying that their victory is "A feat that will be cherished for generations to come!" 

"The Indian Hockey team shines bright at the Olympics, bringing home the Bronze Medal! This is even more special because it is their second consecutive Medal at the Olympics," PM Modi wrote on X.

"Their success is a triumph of skill, perseverance, and team spirit. They showed immense grit and resilience. Congratulations to the players. Every Indian has an emotional connect with Hockey and this accomplishment will make the sport even more popular among the youth of our nation," he tweeted.

He also spoke to the team over a phone call to personally congratulate them on their victory.

Ending India's week-long medal wait, the men's hockey team bagged a bronze in the Paris Olympics, defeating Spain by 2-1.

'The Team Deserves Highest Praise For Resurgence Of Indian Hockey': President Murmu

Applauding the hockey team for their performance, which brought another medal for India, President Droupadi Murmu wrote on X, "Heartiest congratulations to our Hockey Team for securing the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics! It is after over five decades that India has won bronze medals in back-to-back Olympic Games."

"The team deserves highest praise for resurgence of Indian Hockey. They have done India proud. The consistency, skills, cohesion and fighting spirit shown by this team will inspire our youth. Well done, Indian hockey team!" the President said.

Congress also congratulated the Indian hockey team on their first consecutive victory. 

"The Indian hockey team has repeated history by winning the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics. Every player of Team India played brilliantly. The Indian hockey team has made the entire country proud with this achievement. Congress family wishes Team India all the best. Jai Hind," INC wrote on X.

'Chak De India'

Aam Aadmi Party extended hearty congratulations to the Indian hockey team, saying "best wishes to the hockey team that created history by winning the bronze medal in the Paris Olympics."

"The whole country is proud of its hockey team," the party posted on its X handle.

'Jai Ho! India Is Proud Of You'

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath also congratulated the team, saying that the country is proud of their achievement.

"Heartiest congratulations to Team India for winning the bronze medal in the hockey competition of Paris Olympics-2024!You are our champion. India is proud of you," he wrote on his X handle.

'What A Splendid Show Of Mettle!'

Union Home Minister Amit Shah lauded the team for winning bronze medal and wrote on X, "Many congratulations to our men's hockey team on winning the bronze medal at the Paris Olympics 2024. Your power-packed performance, and impeccable sportsmanship will ignite a new zest for the sport."

"Your achievement has raised the pride of the Tiranga," he added.
