India has made a highly positive start to their Paris Olympics 2024 campaign. The men's archery team secured a direct entry into the quarterfinals by finishing in the top four of the Archery Ranking Round. Republic of Korea remained at the top in this ranking, with France securing the second spot and India finishing third. Earlier, the women's team also achieved a similar distinction with a third-place finish.
In the ranking round, the Indian trio of Dhiraj Bommadevara, Tarundeep Rai, and Pravin Jadhav scored a total of 2013 points to secure the third position.

Dheeraj emerged as the standout performer for India in the men's individual category archery event, securing a fourth-place finish with 681 points. He outperformed archers from several countries, including the USA, France, and Türkiye. Tarundeep Rai ended up ranked 14th with 674 points while Pravin Jadhav was at the 39th position with 658 points.
The India men's archery team will now face the winner of Colombia vs. Turkey match. Potential semifinal opponents could be France, while a potential final opponent might be South Korea.
India's mixed team advances to round of 16 in Archery
India's mixed team advanced to the round of 16 in archery, finishing in fifth place with 1347 points. Dheeraj Bommadevara scored 681 points, while Ankita Bhakat contributed 666 points. Korea topped the rankings, followed by Germany in second place, the USA in third, and China in fourth.
India's women archers enter QFs
Indian women archers performed exceptionally in the ranking round, with the women's team finishing in fourth place. Ankita Bhakat, making a memorable debut, recorded her season's best performance.
Debutant Ankita Bhagat delivered the best performance for India, scoring a total of 666 points with 72 shots and securing the 11th position.
Deepika Kumari, Ankita Bhagat, and Bhajan Kaur collectively scored 1,983 points, finishing fourth.
