Neeraj Chopra qualified for the finals in the men’s Javelin at the Paris Olympics 2024 with a remarkable first throw of 89.34 metres in the Qualification Round Group B on August 6 (Tuesday). He secured his place in the final with just one throw, displaying a champion-level performance and achieving his season-best.

Chopra is set to compete in the final on August 8. The 26-year-old surpassed the automatic qualifying mark of 84m with his opening throw. Notably, Chopra holds the national record of 89.94m, set at the Stockholm Diamond League in Sweden back in June 2022.

Jena's best throw of 80.73m placed him ninth in Group A, with only the top four competitors from the group advancing to the medal round. Jena's other throws included an invalid second attempt and a third throw of 80.21m. He failed to secure a spot in the top 12 across both groups A and B, as required to progress to the final.
