Mercedes F1 driver Lewis Hamilton scripted history on Sunday as he clinched his seventh Formula One title after winning the Turkish Grand Prix and equaled the long standing world record of German motor racing legend Michael Schumacher. Hamilton's tenth win in the ongoing Formula One (F1) season meant that he became the F1 World Championship (driver's title) for a record equaling seventh time, the joint most by any driver in the history of the most revered and competitive auto racing event in the world. Starting the race on sixth position on the grid at Istanbul, Hamilton had a kind of a sea saw start as he climbed to third in the opening lap of the race but again fell back to his original position of sixth. Mercedes' decision to switch to intermediate tyres on Hamilton's car proved to be tactical masterstroke as the British driver crossed the chequered flag in pole position with a comfortable 25 second lead over Perez. It was not a complete domination by Mercedes at the Turkish Grand Prix as Racing Point's Sergio Perez and Sebastian Vettel of Ferrari finished second and third, respectively. It has been a record breaking season for the in-form Hamilton as he went past Schumacher's record of 91 F1 race wins earlier in the year and now has extended his lead to 94 Formula One races.
