Juventus Clinch Ninth Straight Italian Serie A Title After Ronaldo Scores In 2-0 Win Over Sampdoria

Juventus' ninth successive Serie A title came on the back of a brace form their talismanic Portuguese striker Cristinao Ronaldo who found the back of the net

Italian club soccer giants Juventus continued to exert their dominance in Italy's top flight Serie A league as they romped home to claim a record ninth straight Scudetto title with a dominant 2-0 win over Sampdoria on Monday. Juventus' ninth successive Serie A title came on the back of a brace form their talismanic Portuguese striker Cristinao Ronaldo who found the back of the net to open the scoring for his club. The Bianconeri arrived at the Allianz Stadium on Sunday evening with four points cushion over second-placed Inter Milan, and needed a solitary win to seal the title with two rounds to go before the culmination of the season. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring for Juventus against Sampdoria in first-half injury time with Federico Bernardeschi then doubled the lead with a second goal in the 67th minute. Ronaldo later missed a penalty in the dying moments of game but Juventus would still be able to hold out for a crucial three points. Juventus' ninth title also marked coach Maurizio Sarri's first Scudetto tile in his coaching career, while he became the oldest coach to win the title aged 61 years and six months. In other major Serie A results, Lazio claimed their second consecutive win after crushing aside Hellas Verona 5-1, as Ciro Immobile completed a hat-trick, extending his lead in the scoring charts with 34 goals, three ahead of Ronaldo. Roma extended their unbeaten run as they conquered Fiorentina 2-1, with Jordan Veretout scoring two penalties. In Sunday's other Serie A matches, Bologna edged past Lecce 3-2, Cagliari conceded a 1-0 home defeat to Udinese, while SPAL shared the spoils with Torino 1-1.
