Nitish Rana, Hrithik Shokeen Get Involved In Heated Exchange During IPL 2023 MI vs KKR Match

MI's stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav and Piyush Chawla had to play peacemakers as things were starting to get uglier on the pitch.

In not the best of advertisements for sprit of cricket, Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana was involved in a heated exchange of words with Mumbai Indians's Hrithik Shokeen after the latter dimissed the batter during the IPL 2023 match between the two teams at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Sunday.

The incident happened in the first ball of the 9th over. Rana tried to up the ante and wanted to clear long on for a maximum. However, he failed to time the ball as well as he would have liked and was caught in the deep by substitute fielder Ramandeep Singh. Post the wicket, the bowler seemingly said something to Rana which irked the KKR skipper. In response, Rana, who was already upset with his dismissal got angry and shared a few angry words and animated gestures.

MI's stand-in captain Suryakumar Yadav and Piyush Chawla had to play peacemakers before Rana took the walk back to the dugout. Several videos and images from the incident have surfaced on social media.

Take a look:

Notably, both the cricketers play for Delhi in the domestic cricket circuit. While Rana departed for 5, Shokeen has had a good match so far taking a great catch and then coming back to remove Rana. Later, he picked the wicket of Shardul Thakur to finish with figures of 2 for 34 in his 4 overs.
