GT Star Kane Williamson Likely To Be Ruled Out Of IPL 2023 With A Knee Injury: Report
Gujarat's win over Chennai in IPL 2023 tournament opener came at a cost as their star player and New Zealand batting legend Kane Williamson sustained a knee injury in this match.
Kane Williamson knee injury update: The 2023 season of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 started with a high-octane clash between four-time IPL winners Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and defending champions Gujarat Titans that saw the Titans steal a win in the final over of the innings with five wickets and four balls remaining. However, Gujarat's win came at a cost as their star player and New Zealand batting legend Kane Williamson sustained an injury on his right knee in this match.
In an attempt to save a six, Kane Williamson suffered a bad landing and could not get up once he was down. Soon after Williamson's horrific fall, the medical team was quick to assist the Kiwi legend, who was then taken off the field and later did not come out to play any further part in the match.
As per a report in PTI, there is little chance for Kane Williamson to take further part in the IPL though the assessment of his injury is still going on.
"Williamson will probably require ACL reconstruction and could be out of competitive cricket for indefinite period of time," an IPL source told PTI.
Titans captain Hardik Pandya had said at the post-match press conference that he did not know how serious was the injury.
"It is knee (injury) for sure but I don't have any update about what exactly has happened. I don't know how serious the injury is and how much time it will take (to heal). Right now there is no time frame," Pandya said.

"I had just messaged him. He (Williamson) has gone for the scans, once he comes back after the scans and doctors check (on him), then only we will be able to know what exactly it is."
