Rohit Sharma will play under the captaincy of Hardik Pandya at Mumbai Indians. Notably, Rohit will be coming into the IPL 2025 season after leading Team India to their third Champions Trophy victory in the 2025 edition held in Pakistan and Dubai. Since joining the franchise in 2011, Sharma has been the face of the team and continues to be a central figure in their lineup.

In 2013, Rohit Sharma took over the Mumbai Indians' captaincy mid-season—a move that changed the course of IPL history. Under his leadership, MI secured their maiden IPL title that year. He went on to guide the franchise to five championships (2013, 2015, 2017, 2019 and 2020), making them the joint-most successful team in IPL history alongside Chennai Super Kings.

With over 80 victories as captain, Rohit Sharma holds one of the highest win percentages in IPL history. Rohit also stands as the third-highest run-getter in the IPL history, with 6628 runs to his name in 257 matches at a healthy strike rate of 131.14. He has two IPL hundreds to his name.
