A day ahead of the opening clash, CSK made a massive announcement through a press release with MS Dhoni making way for Ruturaj Gaikwad as the Chennai skipper. On the other hand, it will be Faf du Plessis who will be leading RCB. The focus, nonetheless, will continue to remain on Dhoni and Kohli with the wicketkeeper-batter playing his first competitive match since the IPL 2023 final in Ahmedabad and Kohli also returning to cricket action after a but of a break, having made himself unavailable for personal reasons during India's home Test series against England.
