BCCI Punishes Nitish Rana For Breaching IPL Code Of Conduct In KKR vs PBKS IPL 2023 Match

Nitish Rana, newly-appointed captain of franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, is facing consequences for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct.

Two-time IPL winners Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) pulled off one of the biggest heists in history of Indian Premier League (IPL) by securing last-ball win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) on Monday (May 8) night. KKR attained a 5-wicket win over PBKS, delivering their opponents a shock loss. However, Nitish Rana, newly-appointed captain of franchise Kolkata Knight Riders, is facing consequences for breaching the IPL Code of Conduct. As per an official release from Indian Premier League (IPL), Nitish Rana has been fined Rs 12 lakh for maintaining a slow over-rate in Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) vs Punjab Kings (PBKS) match on Monday (May 8) at the Eden Gardens. This is KKR's first offence in ongoing IPL 2023, relating to minimum over-rate offences under IPL's code of conduct.

“Kolkata Knight Riders captain Nitish Rana has been fined after his team maintained a slow over-rate during their TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) match against Punjab Kings at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

“As it was his team’s first offence of the season under the IPL’s Code of Conduct relating to minimum over-rate offences, Mr. Rana was fined Rs. 12 lakh,” the official IPL statement read.

KKR's Rinku Singh (10-ball 21 not out) yet again established why he is considered among on of the best finishers in ongoing IPL 2023. The talented youngster hammared a last-ball boundary to power his team Kolkata Knight Riders to a memorable five-wicket win over Punjab Kings at their home ground, keeping their IPL 2023 Playoffs hopes alive. Chasing 180 for the win, KKR captain Nitish Rana (38-ball 51) scored a hard-fought fifty and Andre Russell (23-ball 42) added muscle to the chase with his fiery innings, followed by Rinku Singh's exploits.

For KKR, mystery spinner Varun Chakravarthy was the pick of bowlers, finishing his spell with 3 for 26 as hosts KKR bundled up PBKS to a below-par 179 for seven after the visitors opted to bat on a slow wicket.
