IPL 2022 DC Vs PBKS Match Cancel Threat Looms Large, Tim Siefert's Rapid Test Turns Covid Positive

Delhi Capitals team physio Patrick Farhart, massage therapist Chetan Sharma, Mitchell Marsh, doctor Abhijit Salvi and social media member Akash Mane tested Coronavirus positive between April 15 to 18.

New Delhi: After Mitchell Marsh, another overseas player Tim Siefert, in the Delhi Capitals camp has tested positive for the dreaded Coronavirus in rapid tests just hours ahead of DC vs PBKS IPL 2022 match on Wednesday, and RT-PCR test result is awaited. If Siefert tests positive in RT-PCR test too, the match against Punjab is likely to be called off since he trained with the entire team yesterday.

With the latest development, the total positive cases in the Delhi Capitals camp have increased to six. The news comes as a big blow for BCCI as the IPL organising committee has implemented strict measures to ensure safety and well-being of players.

DC team physio Patrick Farhart, massage therapist Chetan Sharma, overseas player Mitchell Marsh, team doctor Abhijit Salvi and social media member Akash Mane tested Coronavirus positive between April 15 to 18.

Earlier, Delhi Capitals (DC) all-rounder Mitchell Marsh was admitted to a hospital after testing positive for Covid. After which the match between Delhi Capitals (DC) and Punjab Kings (PBKS), which was originally scheduled to take place at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune, was shifted to the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai.

IPL 2022 is being played inside a secure bio-bubble, and a spike of cases inside Delhi camp has increased the tension of BCCI. The board is yet to take a final call on the postponement or cancellation of DC's future matches.
