Spain vs France Euro 2024 Semifinal: Lamine Yamal made history by becoming the youngest player to score in a men’s UEFA European Championship history as Spain defeated France 2-1 to clinch themselves a spot in the Euro 2024 final. Yamal set the record at the age of 16 years and 362 days, surpassing Switzerland’s Johan Vonlathen, who was 18 years and 141 days old when he scored against France in 2004. Lamine Yamal, who is set to turn 17 on July 13, is also the youngest player to participate in the Euros.

In the Spain vs France Euro 2024 semifinal, France took an early lead through Randal Kolo Muani's header from Kylian Mbappe’s cross, but Spain quickly equalised thanks to a long-range strike from 16-year-old Yamal. Dani Olmo then added another impressive goal shortly afterward, giving Spain the lead that they defended until the final whistle.

Spain On Track To Win Fourth Euro Championship Title

Spain's victory also marked them as the first team to win six consecutive matches in a single Euro tournament. Spain will now await the winner between the Netherlands and England, who play their semifinal match on Wednesday, as Spain aim for a fourth Euro championship title.

Spain's Win Allows Yamal To Celebrate 17th Birthday In Germany

Yamal, who received the man of the match award for his performance, will celebrate his 17th birthday the day before the final and expressed his desire to be in Germany for the occasion.

"We were in a difficult moment, you wouldn't expect a goal so soon, I wanted to put it in where it went in and I'm very happy. I try not to think too much, enjoy it and help the team and if it works out like this, I'm happy and content with the victory. I want to win, win and win. I'll celebrate my birthday here in Germany with my team," he told La 1 as per GOAL.

Spain, despite not being the favourites, have proven to be the standout team at Euro 2024, eliminating host Germany in the quarterfinals after extra time.

In contrast, France struggled to find form throughout the tournament, relying heavily on goals and a penalty from Mbappe to reach the semifinals. Mbappe, who suffered a broken nose early in the tournament, has not been in top form.
