Pakistan ended up on the losing side in the second T20I against England at Manchester but they had something to cherish about as their batting mainstay Babar Azam registered a record in his name in the shortest format at the international stage. The Pakistani T20I skipper who scored a breezy half century in a losing cause at Old Trafford against England, became the joint fastest batsman with India captain Virat Kohli and Australia limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch to scale 1,500 runs in T20 internationals. Playing his 39th T20I innings for Pakistan, Babar achieved the 1500-run milestone and equaled the record of being the fastest batsman to get there, jointly held by Virat Kohli and Aroon Finch.

Virat Kohli stands atop the list of T20I run scorers with a staggering 2794 runs in 82 games. Meanwhile, India vice-captain Rohit Sharma is second in the list with 2773 runs in 108 matches, followed by Kiwi opener Martin Guptill, Pakistan’s Shoaib Malik, and Australia’s David Warner. Babar also overtook Kohli to claim the number one spot in terms of the highest batting averages (minimum 500 runs) in the shortest format of the game. After his 56-run knock, Babar averages 50.90 in T20Is, the highest among any player with 500 T2OI runs. On the other hand, Virat Kohli averages 50.8 in the shortest format of the game. England chased down a mammoth 196-run total set by Pakistan at Manchester as skipper Eoin Morgan belted a blistering half-century at Old Trafford to defeat the visitors by five wickets in the second Twenty20 international on Sunday.
