IPL 2020: RCB, KXIP Cricketers Wear Black Armbands To Honour Dean Jones After Australian Cricketer's Tragic Demise
As a mark of respect and tribute to the former Australian great Dean Jones, the IPL Governing Council decided that the players from both KXIP and RCB franchises will wear black armbands during their IPL 2020 game in Dubai.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) cricketers wore black armbands in their IPL 2020 match up at the Dubai International Stadium on Thursday to honour former Australian cricketer Dean Jones who passed away in Mumbai on Thursday (September 24th)
Australian cricketer-turned commentator Dean Jones passed away on Thursday after suffering a massive cardiac arrest in Mumbai. He was in Mumbai as part of the Star Sports commentary panel for the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020.
As a mark of respect and tribute to the former Australian great, the IPL Governing Council decided that the players from both KXIP and RCB franchises will wear black armbands during their IPL 2020 game in Dubai.
Popularly nicknamed 'Professor Deano' around the cricket fraternity, the renowned commentator and analyst was 59 and was staying in a bio-secure bubble in a five-star hotel in Mumbai with the fellow members of the commentary panel.

Post retirement from international cricket, Dean Jones was a staple in the commentary box, giving his expert opinion and analysis on various bilateral and multination tournaments over the last decade. He also served as a coach for a few T20 franchises.
Dean Jones carved a distinct identity of his own due to the signature humor and satire he brought to the fore with his serious analysis on the sport across formats. He was a regular to India due to his commentary assignments in the IPL and other regional T20 tournaments like the Tamil Nadu Premier League and the Karnataka Premier League.
A frontline batsman for Australian in the late 80s and early 90s, Jones represented Australian in 52 Tests amassing 3631 runs at an average of over 46 including 11 centuries and 14 fifties. In ODIs, he scored 6068 runs in 164 matches with the help of 7 hundreds and 46 fifties.
