Former Australian Cricketer Dean Jones, In Mumbai For IPL Commentary, Dies Of Massive Heart Attack At Hotel Lobby

Former Australian Player Dean Jones who was in Mumbai to do off-tube commentary on the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 now underway in UAE, died due to cardiac arrest.

Former Australian cricket legend Dean Jones has died of a massive heart attack today in a hotel lobby in Mumbai during lunch hours today. Jones was part of the Star Sports commentary team and was in a bio-secure bubble in a seven-star hotel in Mumbai. He was 59. EXCLUSIVE! Dean Jones was in India to fulfil his commitments for the host broadcasters of the Indian Premier League. Dean Jones played 52 Tests and 164 ODIs for Australia during an international career which spanned 8 years between 1984 and 1992. He scored 3631 runs in red-ball cricket at an average of 46.55 with 11 hundreds and 14 half-centuries. In one-day internationals, he amassed 6068 runs at 44.61 with 7 hundreds and 46 fifties.
Virendra Sehwag has expressed grief over the sudden death of the Australian legend. In 2006, Dean Jones, the former Australia Test batsman turned TV commentator, had been sacked by his employers, Ten Sports, after being heard calling South African cricketer Hashim Amla a 'terrorist' on live TV during the fourth day of a Test match between Sri Lanka and South Africa at Colombo.
"I have no end of respect for the Muslim faith hence I'm so sorry for making such a stupid comment. It does not represent who  I am how I think or what I believe. I will be the first person to apologise to Hashim Amla as soon as I get the chance, and I will assure him that prejudice against anybody, on any basis, is unacceptable and not something I am ever gonna condones," Jones said while expressing regret. Jones was also part of Australia's World Cup squads in 1987 and 1992. Australian won its maiden World Cup title at the 1987 World Cup held In India.
