India vs Bangladesh: Amid Political Unrest At Home, Bangla Tigers Start Practice In Chennai

India vs Bangladesh: High on a series winning performance against Pakistan, Bangladesh have arrived in Chennai ahead of the 1st Test match.

All is not well with Bangladesh. The South Asian country is amid a turmoil ever since the fall of the Shaikh Hasina-led goverment. There is violence prevalence on the streets and it is not clear what the future is going to look like for a nation which seems to be taking steps all over again under a new regime to try and announce their arrival at the world stage.

Having said that, Bangladesh cricket is in a different space altogether. Away from their homeland, they have managed to give the country a sense of hope and belief. They have scripted a historic Test series win over Pakistan, an opponent they had never beaten before in the longest format of the match. They won not once but twice and ended up registering a clean sweep in what should go down as one of the finest moments of their cricket history.

'It's Not The Time For Euphoria'

High on a series winning performance against Pakistan, Bangladesh have arrived in Chennai ahead of the 1st Test match. The IND vs BAN 1st Test is scheduled to get underway on September 19 and the Bangla Tigers have begun their practice. Meanwhile, there are fans in the land they have set foot on who want the series to be cancelled because of the violence against Hindus in their country.

"It's not the time for euphoria, but people were really happy...We could feel that as we returned from Pakistan," Bangladesh media manager Rabeed Imam said as quoted by TOI as the Bangladesh team entered the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai to practice on Monday (September 16).

Imam added that while the players had gone through a lot during the turbulent times in the country, they still managed to focus on the job at hand and beat Pakistan in Pakistan.

"They showed remarkable mental resilience not to lose focus from the job at hand and the victory against Pakistan was a reward for that. Now things are slowly coming back to normalcy, we had a six-day camp in Dhaka before coming here," Imam said.

A spirited Bangladesh will play two Tests and three T20Is against India.
