Kristen was selected as the head coach of team India in 2007, and he remained at his position until 2011. In his term of four years, India achieved immense success in cricket. Under his coaching, India also became the No. 1 team in the Test rankings.

India Beat Sri Lanka To Lift The 2011 World Cup Trophy
In the final, India defeated Sri Lanka by 6 wickets to win the 2011 World Cup. Indian skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Gautam Gambhir played memorable innings in the final. Team India scored 277 runs in 48.2 overs to get a six-wicket win over Sri Lanka to lift World Cup title after a gap of 28 years.
For India, captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni played an unbeaten innings of 91 runs while Gautam Gambhir scored a brilliant 97. With this, Dhoni became the only captain from India who managed to win the ODI World Cup along with Twenty20 World Cup. In Dhoni's captaincy, Team India achieved number one rank in Test format as well.
