London: England vs New Zealand 1st Test match, Day 2 ended pretty well for England. After a shaky start, English captain Joe Root and Rory Burns stabilized England's innings. England lost two wickets for 18 runs.

In the first session on Day 2, New Zealand crossed the 300-mark. Conway was playing with a strike rate of 54.79 as he was played a knock of 200*. Ollie Robinson has been the pick of the bowlers for England. He picked 4 wickets. Wood picked 2 while James Anderson picked one wicket.

England batting coach Graham Thorpe after the end of day's play said, “From where we were this morning, we’re really happy. The bowlers did a fantastic job, they all stood up. We’d have taken 378 all out from the position we were in overnight. It’s a good pitch – the oddball has misbehaved but nothing ridiculous, and we hope we can bat all day tomorrow."

He specially mentioned their pacer, Ollie Robinson who had to apologize for his old 'racist' tweets. Thorpe said, "I thought [Ollie Robinson] bowled really well. It was a tough day for him yesterday – he had to stand up and apologise, in the dressing-room and then to everyone around the world. It was really important that we supported him in the dressing-room. He showed a great deal of character; it shows a lot about his personality. Sometimes you have to stick your chest out and go and perform. So we’re pleased. He’s a talented bowler."

He also praised the NZ debutant who scored a double-centry. “I thought Devon Conway played fantastically well. It was a wonderful innings. Two hundred, at Lord’s, on debut – you can’t ask for much more.”
