What to do in case of an earthquake?
- If you feel tremors, rush out to safety or take cover under a strong furniture or table in your house and keep your hands on your head, protecting the critical areas.
- If you live in a high-rise building, stay indoors. When the earthquake tremors stop, come down from the building. DO NOT use the elevator.
- When you go down, stand in the open — somewhere far away from buildings, so that if the building collapses, you would be safe.
- Taking the elevator during an earthquake is a bad idea because tremors may trigger a power cut, due to which you can get stuck. Always take the stairs.
- Do not stand under a building, near electric poles, trees, wires, flyovers, bridges, or heavy vehicles.
- If you are driving during an earthquake, then stop the vehicle and stay seated inside. Try to steer the vehicle to an open place.
