England announce Playing XI for 1st Test and a new vice-captain

England have announced their playing XI for the first Test against India on August 1 at Edgbaston, on Tuesday. The announcement was made by England Cricket on their official social media handle right a day ahead of the first face-off. At the same time, a new vice-captain has also been announced for the Birmingham Test.
According to the report, English skipper Joe Root has confirmed the team. All-rounder Moeen Ali and Jamie Porter have been benched for the first game which is also going to mark England’s 1000th Test.
In addition, wicketkeeper-batsman Jos Buttler has been named as the new vice-captain of England in whites for the entire series, which is scheduled to conclude on September 11. The 27-year-old is already Eoin Morgan’s deputy in ODIs and now, he has been given a whole new responsibility.
